I'm hoping that "Actor-Network Theory" (ANT) may provide some kind of connecting point between academia and the development practitioners who are part of the Dadamac community. In this hope I wrote the following comment in response to his post.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Regarding ANT – you may be interested in the conversation that I had on Sunday August 9th with Fola Sunday from Ago-Are. He is a teacher in rural Nigeria trying to raise awareness of the Internet in his local community. My background is also in teaching – but it is some years since I have been in a conventional teaching role. The conversation we are having is part of an ongoing struggle that we have both been engaged in for many years – in our own time and using our own resources. (I got involved initially through a Nigerian friend here in London).
I have other contacts like Fola – people in Africa who are doing innovative local development things and connect with me through the power of ICT. Part of my long term vision is that we will find ways to connect up with academics and that we will “rub minds’ and find ways to help each other.
If that idea interests you please read our conversation at http://dadamac.posterous.com/update-on-ago-are-and-the-internet-from-folab and contact me pamela.mclean@dadamac.net
