Charging mobiles  -  DC Booster -  CA Leaflet

Following the recent info about 'handshakes', I have found that though most existing phones can still be charged through their socket with the latest ones the charging rate has to be just right! This means having a current regulator in the circuit and that means also having a charged up 12v battery.
With just a solar panel - no extra battery - several older phones can be charged at the same time so long as the sun is shining!

I know that several contacts have had problems charging their mobile as have I! Do let me know the details and we should be able to work out a solution.
It is a real puzzle that everyone says that mobile charging is such a problem in rural areas and yet so few have yet to try the simplest solution - solar charging the battery directly.
Is there a problem I am unaware of? Even when the sun is not shining it will still charge up slowly in daylight.

The latest mains mobile charging gadget allows one to just place the phone(s) on a 'mat' for charging!
No wires, very clever, but very inefficient as it wastes most of the power generated.

DC Booster
If you are interested in experimenting with pv solar there is now an interesting low cost dc-dc voltage booster available from China.
It enables a low voltage to be increased. For example a SMALL 6v pv panel can be boosted to 12v to charge a car battery (VERY SLOWLY) or a 3v pv panel to charge a phone. It can be bought via eBay for about $6.

CA leaflet
At last we have found a simple CA (No-till) subsistence farmer leaflet.
If you can download visit www.mamud.com/Docs/CA_pamphlet_eng.pdf
It is not wonderful and we soon hope to have our own improved CA leaflet - so important that more people know about CA!

If you are interested in CA, do make contact. A CA group is being formed to make simpler CA leafelts.
