(There is still time to book for this event - details below my email to Tom Inkelaar)

Dear Tom

Ref Research in Distance Education conference on the 27th October - visit your order on our conference site, here: www.eventbrite.com/mytickets, and add in your role and organisation (and country if you live outside of the UK).

Please can you help me. When I went there I didn't find any options to add my role and organisation - just details of events I have booked (or might like to book).

I would like to add my information as I hope very much to make the most of networking opportunities at the event. I am a practitioner with varied interests related both to Internet-enabled learning and to education and development in Africa (About Pam). My work has included the development and presentation of an in-service training programme introducing ICT to teachers in rural Africa. It is called Teachers Talking and was initially developed in North Central Nigeria (in collaboration with John Dada of Fantsuam Foundation). In 2007 I presented it in Kenya thanks to funding from Commonwealth of Learning. I was also instrumental in the establishment of a Community Information Centre at Ago-Are in rural SW Nigeria which was later involved in a 2 year collaborative programme with CoL and IITA (the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture).

Regarding Distance Learning - John Dada, and I collaborated with Professor Dick Heller on the initial stages of Peoples-uni.org which now provides a dozen accredited post-graduate level low-cost distance learning courses for health professionals in low income countries.

Through Dadamac Limited John Dada and I offer opportunities for academic-practitioner collaboration. (We are currently waiting for a funding decision from Comic relief on a collaborative project with a London University College.)

There are very few opportunities for practitioners to connect with academics and I greatly appreciate the sessions arranged by CDE.

We will soon be in a position to send on details of the programme for the day, so watch this space for more news on the conference.
