The Clean Cookstoves story is emerging again. - Diplomatic climate demands collaboration, coordination - http://ht.ly/3RXdi

I remember this story from when it launched ( see Dadamac and Secretary Clinton Announces Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves  http://dadamac.posterous.com/dadamac-and-secretary-clinton-announces-globa )

Here's the site - Overview of Clean Cookstoves intiative  http://ht.ly/3HSNj

Is any one interested in helping me look at this one in more detail?

They are right about the problem of cooking over open fires. I don't know if their choice of stove is the right solution (I'd need to check with John and his team on the ground). Anyhow, I don't know if the project has any relevance to any of the people Dadamac knows who do have the problem of cooking on open fires. I"ve had a quick look down the "how to get involved" and I can't see any kind of way in. I don't  see anywhere that actually says something like - "If you know some people who have this problem and would like to know more about getting these stoves then do XYZ". I can see on the website how to give money, and how to get invovled if we are a really big organsiation, or if we were doing some intervention  at country level, but I don't know if there is any relevance for us and the people we know.

I am for ever seeing things on the Internet that seem to provide a solution to the problems that people in the Dadamac network face in Africa - but I can never see how these solutions are supposed to actually link up with the people I know (and -  equally - how these solutions are supposed to actually link up with other people like the people I know).

Maybe someone could dig a bit deeper for me. What is this project actually doing? Does it have any relevance to us?
