The first time I joined in with earth hour it was with a group of friends, and we so enjoyed sitting and chatting by candle-light that we didn't get around to switching the lights back on.

This year I'll be at home on my own - and intend to try for a fully "non-electric" hour - except for the fridge and freezer. I might cheat and and go into the hour with a cuppa - or a thermos of hot water. After several days of a heatwave it's turning chilly - and switching on the central heating would break my self-imposed rules too. Hmm.

I need to make some quick phone calls before 8.30, and then shut down my laptop.

First - I'll find the candles.
