Hi Ben

Thanks for thinking about connecting me up with people on your network via FaceBook.   I would certainly appreciate the introductions but I'm not sure FB is the best way to do it. My concern is that if you do connect me via FB I would not nurture the connections as they would deserve to be nurtured. Is there any other way of connecting?

(Although I'm on FB I don't really use it. I liked it at first -  but then it seemed to take on a life of its own - attracting clutter and needing attention - so I just backed off.  I'm willing to be shown how to use it better, but I'm not motivated to go back on my own. There are other things I'd choose to do above that.)

It's good to hear from you again. More news of what you are doing now would be welcome of course (by personal mail or posterous comments - I write some of my emails as open letters on posterous because it's handy to have them so readily available).

I think permaculture may start to move forward soon at Attachab. A new volunteer is arriving who is interested in helping to implement things (in fact someone went to Abuja today to collect him).  He does not claim to be a permaculture expert - but is willing to learn and has some time to give. I wish we had some funds to get you involved - but our present riches are in things like high-trust relationships, good communication and knowledge sharing - not money for plane fares etc. I imagine you have plenty of people wanting to pick your brains for nothing so I'm not going to ask to do that. I don't know if you can think of any win-win ways we might collaborate that don't require "deep pockets" - or if you know of any funds we might tap in order for you to work with us.

I believe  we really do have to do all we can to "rub minds" with our friends in Nigeria. It's not just permaculture ideas - it's everything to do with more sustainable life styles - I.e. not copying the mistakes of the "developed world" but working together to find better solutions (this post explains my thinking - Pam - we want street lights!) .

As I think you know I am not any kind of eco-expert (although I do appreciate some of the issues around "normal" small scale food production from the time when I lived in rural Cornwall - goats, bees, chickens, basic veg growing, a little wine making and food preserving - but mostly more as an observer than an active participant - except for milking the goats......) My interest is in helping information to flow freely. I know you have great information -  and networks that I would like to connect with.

Hmm - where do we go from here?
