Introducing Gbenga, Murani and Yomi July 17, 2010
Hi Gbenga, Yomi and Murani
Gbenga - it was good to see you at Africa Gathering and hear all the latest about your work -
Paradigm Initiative Nigeria
I would like to introduce you to Yomi of Development Impact For Nigeria and also Murani, who is going out to do some voluntary work with DIFN very soon. They were both round at my place today, for a catch-up and an exchange of ideas before Yomi flies back to Lagos to prepare for his volunteers.
We covered a lot of ground and as a result Yomi and Murani heard about your work - and various ways you and I connect - and naturally they would like to get to know you and your work better.
The conversation today included
- the benefits of open source software (which is Murani's area of expertise and enthusiasm)
- the work Yomi is doing (especially with youths needing work and with ICT in schools)
- the work that has been going on in Ago-Are at the OCDN information centre and with schools
- use of phones in Ago-Are to connect with the Internet
- meetings some time ago between OCDN and DIFN people
- ways that John Dada and Yomi have already connected through areas of overlapping interest
- formal and informal initiatives to train teachers about ICT
- you are also based in Lagos
- you work with ICT and young people
- the first time we met face to face you were doing a presentation about open source
- you know John well
- you visited Ago-Are some years ago with your volunteers to introduce people, there to open source
- you were in London on July 3rd giving a presentation at Africa Gathering and on the same day Yomi was doing a session in London for Africa Diaspora Development Day AD3
