My friend Fola in rural Nigeria needs help in learning to use Wordpress or similar December 27, 2011
My friend Fola, teaching in rural Nigeria, wants to improve his skills in web design etc (see his email below). He is looking for some resources online that will teach him about Wordpress or Joomla etc, but most of the things he's found are simply samples advertising courses. He has a limited budget and needs to be sure that anything he gets will be good value. Does anyone have any advice for him please?
Does he actually need to buy a course (if so - what are your recommendations) or can he find out what he knows through user groups or help pages? (BTW Fola is much more technically capable than I am - so he's not looking for the level of simplicity you might offer to me. However he will be studying in English which is not his preferred spoken language.)

Subject: IN NEED OF COMPLETE VIDEO TUTORIALS ON PROFESSIONAL WEB DESIGN AND ADVANCED BLOGGING
I am a teacher I teach in one of the rurals of Oyo state Nigeria. I
have got most of my problems solved by sharing it with others and I
know this will not be an exemption.
I have been also told to come and be teaching a private school student computer and internet in my place
of work Ago Are. if this knowledge is acquired i can as well transfer
the knowledge into the student and anyone who wishes to learn in the
village.
It is my desire to know web designing and advanced blogging
and i think searching Google and internet could afford me this
Privilege but my search all these years has not given me a success in
my quest for knowledge. Though I was able to download some video
tutorials on you-tube and some E books from internet but the videos
are in parts and not complete many are doing this to market their
products and invite you to their sales page.
Though i was introduced
into blogging by Glenn in 2008 when Pam invited me to Kafanchan and I
have been able to develop it from there but I learnt there are more
simpler means of creating professional website using Joomla,
WordPress, and other WYSIWYG without know much about HTML and other
script and coding I think asking the question - from people around on
the internet - I should be able to get help from others who have the
experience and are willing to share it got humanitarian purpose.
If there is a solution to my desire I will forever be happy that I
achieved one of my desires in life. you can contact me if you so have
