Dear all,
Thank you for your interest and the work that you put into completing the applications for microgrant funding for citizen media outreach. We received a record number of proposals (more than 700 from 85 countries) with many great and innovative ideas. Please be sure that we will read each one carefully and work with our committee to select the proposals to be funded. Because of this high volume of applications, we will not be able to announce our winners on Feb. 28 as originally planned. The announcement will come in mid-March. We will be contacting those proposals that have been selected as finalists. Due to the high number of proposals we will not be able to contact each project individually about their status, only those that have been selected for the next round.
The good news is that we are especially excited about the heavy interest in citizen media from all corners of the globe dealing with many different topics, so there are opportunities to continue these conversations regardless if you are selected as our grantees. There are many individuals and organizations that are new to the Rising Voices community, and we invite you to begin getting to know the work of our community more closely.
There are several suggested ways to do so:
1.) Read and participate on our Rising Voices blog for news about our past grantees, case studies of other projects, and news from our working groups: http://rising.globalvoicesonline.org
