First Thursday this month is October 7th - full details of time, place and how to join (i.e. usual time and the place is Skype).

The Dadamac UK-Nigeria team will be continuing to discuss issues that have come up in recent team meetings - but we'll be continuing the discussion publicly so that others can join in.

Topics are likely to range around:

  • Photography and video training needs at the Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC),
  • Various practicalities of helping KRC to get appropriate resources (see September 27, 2010 - Knowledge Resource Centre and Khan Academy, need for online volunteers
  • Other ways we can support John Dada and Kelechi as they build up the KRC to be a learning hub - not just for trainees already attending the Fantsuam Foundation Cisco Academy, but for people from the local Bayan Loco community to come and access maths and science videos, researchers to come and use the online journals etc
  • Ways to work more closely with librarians
  • Possible involvement of KRC in Open Access Week  (Visit Open Access Week at: http://www.openaccessweek.org /?xg_source=msg_mes_network )
There are similarities between what we are trying to do at the KRC and what we tried to do with Teachers Talking in 2004 and subsequently. When John and I planned our first Teachers Talking course at Fantsuam Foundation in 2004 we set up an online support group (the early archives are the most interesting - in the build up to the first course and its delivery). I am wondering about setting up something similar to support the KRC. This is likely to be discussed at First Thursday. If you are interested in being part of such a group please let me know - or better still - come and join us at First Thursday.

Please pass this on to others who might be interested.
