It is great to see someone of the stature of Owen Barder promoting the same view that Dadamac holds - that there needs to be more discussion between Aid agencies and the people they are supposed to be helping.

Aid agencies will need to play quite different role in the coming years. Citizens will no longer rely on other people to identify options and select the best choice. They will want to do so themselves. Aid agencies can evolve into organizations which help citizens to make informed choices about how to meet their objectives. But they are unlikely to prosper if they continue to see their role as making that choice on behalf of citizens.
