Hi John, Marcus, Bala and open letter readers.

I have just discovered the website of the Permaculture Institute of Australia. http://permaculture.org.au/2008/06/26/the-permaculture-master-plan-permaculture-centres-worldwide/comment-page-2/#comment-59941 (thanks to Coalition of the Willing)

I submitted a comment: (As I re-read it, I hope it does not sound too negative to you, because I know you have achieved some impressive initiatives there given the lack of resources - however I know that what you are managing to achieve is only a scrap of the big vision that you have, if only resources would allow it.)

Please may I draw you attention to a locally driven project in Nigeria where there is land and an existing interest in permaculture.

However implementation is on a fragmented, start-and-stop, voluntary basis, due to lack of resources. http://www.dadamac.net/projects/ecology-and-appropriate-technology/attachab

It could be a good place for one of your sites. Please could we explore with you how it might get involved in your work.

Permaculture Projects Worldwide - http://permaculture.org.au/project_profiles/world_permaculture_projects.htm

We have just begun to compile a list of some of the many permaculture projects underway around the world - so check back often to see more being added.

Please note that this project list is out of date. We will be soon launching a new Worldwide Permaculture Network database that project leaders can use to upload and promote their projects with - a far superior system.

Looking to start your own Project?
Be sure to check out the 'advice and/or resources' section of our Contact page!

Many of these projects are fully aligned with what we like to call the Permaculture Master Plan - a way of hastening the uptake of sustainable living systems worldwide, through the very simple but effective method of enabling each project to be financially self-sufficient within three years through the income potential of hosting permaculture training courses.

Each project thus becomes:

  1. environmentally self-sufficient
  2. financially self-sufficient
  3. self-replicating

The projects contained in these pages are at various stages of development - some still at pre-planning stage, others in development, and yet others that are fully self-sufficient and becoming a major asset to the world.

Click on a region, or, if you don't have Flash installed, use the plain text links further below:

Africa | Asia | Europe | Oceania | Middle East | North America | South America

If you know of a permaculture project that should be listed on this page (large or small), then email editor (at) permacultureusa.org and we'll send you a Project Profile Sheet you can complete and return. Individuals, businesses, NGOs and governments need to see the excellent work that is going on - so they can catch a vision for what could be possible if we were to embark on a full-scale mobilization to support this work.

Contributing authors - http://permaculture.org.au/what-is-a-contributing-author/ - Donate your article or get paid to write

Rough pricing intro (email for more detail): Article pricing will range from AU$10 for a YouTube video (not made by yourself) and a couple of paragraphs to introduce it, and on up, in five dollar increments to max out at AU$50 for full length interesting essays and videos you’ve made yourself. While we seek inspirational material, and also material that exposes the follies of our current system, excellent ‘how to’ material (whether video or written) will receive preferential treatment as far as pricing goes (we want to share real tangible knowledge with the world!) as will any articles that have a higher likelihood of attracting attention/traffic and/or have a longer shelf life. Articles that require significant editing to bring up to a reasonable standard (spelling, grammar, flow) will obviously be met with lower rates.

Marcus, remembering all the great work you have done at Attachab, this might interest you

Worldwide Permaculture Network Teaser

Teaser for new datatbase http://permaculture.org.au/2010/09/25/worldwide-permaculture-network-teaser/

With this new system you can create your own user profile, and, if applicable, advertise your status as a consultant and/or aid worker. You can add your project(s), of whatever type, be it an urban residential project, or an African or Californian aid project, a Sydney suburbs commercial project or something not even land based – like an economic project (LETS, or similar), or a political activist project, and more. Educational projects get to list their courses.
