Call for projects: The Cooking Pot (London)
Wowsociety's mission is all about inspiring helpfulness to free the potential in everyone. To bring this to life, we are kicking off "The Cooking Pot" event series to provide an opportunity for ordinary people with budding projects to make them happen with the support of a diverse collection of helpful people in the local community, all while sharing a pot of homely soup - and cake!
The first Cooking Pot will be on Sunday November 13th in central London, UK, and will feature about 100 people gathered around 10 projects picked for the day. This is a call for all proactive souls with projects or ideas to throw them into the pot for consideration.
Likely projects that are good for the Cooking Pot include, but are not limited to, artistic creations, academic research projects, small business startups or civic projects for the benefit of a local community.
We don't have any strict criteria for picking the 10 projects, and if we had a bigger pot we'd allow more, but the rough guidelines are:
- Projects that would benefit from inspired contributions from a diverse collection of helpful Londoners
- Projects by proactive people otherwise facing surmountable challenges to make them happen
- Projects that reflect the diversity of experiences and opportunities around us
What's in it for project creators?
- An opportunity to solicit ideas, feedback, actions, connections and any other help to make things happen
- An opportunity to validate your work around a diverse group of people at a small, supportive scale
- An opportunity to spark conversations among voices that will propel your work
What's in it for helpful contributors
- An opportunity to learn from the experience of engaging with enterprising projects and proactive people
- An opportunity to forge new connections and friendships with a diverse set of helpful people in your community
- An opportunity to share a pot of homely soup - and cake!
What will it cost you?
- £5 as a commitment to the cause and a contribution to the chef for the pot of soup - and cake!
- A couple of hours out of a potentially less productive Sunday afternoon
- Disruption to your peace and quiet
To be part of it, either as a project creator or contributor, please respond to this post. For project creators, please include a paragraph or two about your project and state how people could help you. You can also attach a supporting document. Note that although you can respond privately, we prefer that you share publicly so that people can start helping prior to the event.
We'll share more details soon. In the meantime, please feel free to respond with any questions or feedback.
Feel free to pass on the opportunity to anyone who would find the opportunity helpful. You can do this with the 'Forward' link provided.
Please note that due to space constraints we may only allow the first 100 contributors for the first event.
Thanks - let's getting cooking!
